Draft List of Deaths Related to the Conflict in 2015

The following page has been compiled by Martin Melaugh to complement the Index of Deaths (1969-2001) by Malcolm Sutton. The information below is in draft form and should be treated with some caution. Some of the deaths listed below may be shown later to be unrelated to the conflict.

2015

5 January 2015	Brian McIlhagga (42) Protestant? Status: Civilian (Civ), Killed by: Unknown Died from his injuries after he was beaten and shot in the legs by an armed gang, at Riverview Park, Ballymoney, County Antrim. [There was media speculation that this was a loyalist paramilitary 'punishment' attack that had gone wrong.]
6 June 2015	Paul McCauley (38) Catholic Status: Civilian (Civ), Killed by: non-specific Loyalist group? Died from his injuries nine years after he had been severely beaten during a sectarian attack, and left in a vegetative state, in the rear garden of his home, Waterside area, Derry. [Police said that they believed a loyalist gang of up to 15 people had been involved in the attack which occurred on 16 July 2006.]
12 August 2015	Kevin McGuigan (53) Catholic Status: ex-Irish Republican Army (xIRA), Killed by: Unknown Shot dead outside his home in Comber Court, Short Strand, Belfast. [There was media speculation that this killing was linked to the killing of Gerard Davison on 5 May 2015.]
Uncertain if conflict-related
5 May 2015	Gerard 'Jock' Davison (47) Catholic Status: ex-Irish Republican Army (xIRA), Killed by: Unknown Shot dead as he walked to work in Welsh Street, the Markets area, Belfast. [On 12th May 2015 the media reported that police did not believe the killing was carried out by dissident Republicans or was sectarian (See: BBC).]
